A New Year’s Resolution for Your Brand

If you make just ONE resolution for your brand this year, let it be this: Talk to your customers more.

Now is the time to invest in staying relevant with your customers and it starts with understanding what your customers need. Metrics are important, but they cannot give you the insight needed to build the emotional connections that drive brand loyalty.

Your customers are not the same as they were in 2019. Decisions we thought were temporary are now our way of life. Priorities have shifted. Behaviors have changed. If you’re relying on old assumptions in this time of accelerated change, then you are missing opportunities to strengthen your brand.

The only way to really understand what your customers need from you in the NOW times, is to ask them. Wondering where to start? Take a look at your 2022 priorities and ask yourself these questions:

  • Are any priorities based on assumptions about what your customers want rather than actual input from consumers?

  • What problem(s) will you need to solve to accomplish these goals?

  • Where will customer input help you solve the problem most effectively?

  • What is the value of solving this problem? (Or the cost of failing to solve it?)
